Visit to Marchmont House, Berwickshire Friday 17th May to Sunday 19th May 2019
From Friday 17th to Sunday 19th May 2019 GRDM Friends will be staying at the Grade A listed Marchmont House in Berwickshire. This Palladian mansion built in 1756 and probably to a design by James Gibbs, has been described by Country Life as outstanding for the recently restored interiors. A significant part of the house is dedicated to furnishings which reflect the Arts & Crafts movement. In addition there is a Gordon Russell bedroom and various other pieces of GR furniture. This trip will include a visit and tour of Cragside, now owned by the National Trust and a self-guided tour of Lady Waterford Hall.
A talk will be given on Gordon Russell and his involvement in the Arts & Crafts Movement followed by a tour of Marchmont to see and discuss the GR furniture.
