TALK ON DR CHRISTOPHER DRESSER ON 6th APRIL 2018

Matthew Winterbottom will be giving talk on Unity in Variety.  Dr Christopher Dresser, Pioneer of Modern Design at 6pm in the Edinburgh Room, the Lygon Arms, Broadway on 6th April 2018.

Dr Christopher Dresser (1834-1904) believed well-made objects should be within the reach of the widest possible.  His designs, which are now widely collected, were based on abstracted geometric natural forms were applied to ceramics, glass, metal, furniture, wallpapers and textiles.   His work was also influenced by Japanese arts and crafts.  The speaker is Curator of late 19th century British Sculpture and Decorative Arts at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford
